Every time I looked at that 16px version, a little part of me was dying inside.

The minimum window size got reduced to match the built-in macOS PiP version, which is super small. It’s not a particularly good size for browsing (my reasoning for the previous minimum I shipped), but there are those who like to be able to pretend their TV show is a postage stamp, so here we are.

In certain situations, the window could get stuck in a snapping loop, forever trying to switch between various corners in attempt to resolve the rules I set in place. To help avoid this, a maximum window size is now applied when snapping is enabled, and the loop itself will check to see if it’s already snapped before continuing on. You can thank me later.

Applied an inset the (new?) advisory warnings that show up in the top corner, so they’re not cut off by the title bar. Not because I care about the advisory warnings so much… just because I hate seeing text being cut off like that. We live in 2018, for crying out loud.

<sparkle:minimumSystemVersion>10.11</sparkle:minimumSystemVersion>

Version 1.0.3

With dark mode now being a thing in macOS Mojave, the app looked a little… funky. The good news is, it was an easy fix, and the main window now has dark mode hard-enabled, regardless of your system setting. It’s a little weird, but definitely less weird than the alternative.

Also related to Mojave’s release, this and future releases are now notarised by Apple. If you’re building from source, it doesn’t count, but it means that no one can tamper with the signed versions I release. Not that I expect this project is actually on anyone’s “hack this app” list.

<sparkle:minimumSystemVersion>10.11</sparkle:minimumSystemVersion>

Version 1.0.4

I (finally?) had a few moments to resolve some small errors caused by the last time Netflix tweaked its web interface.

Netflix had changed the classes for the controls in the video player, which is what the app uses to determine the difference between the main video player and those awful embedded, auto-playing trailer players. Which it isn’t. It’s mostly a handful of tweaks and fixes that I threw together in an afternoon. I got the Apple Silicon part for free.

Spent a little time putting together a nice new icon that feels at home on Big Sur, just for the pleasure of it. If you’re partial to the old icon, I’ve also started a collection of alternates which can be found within the project’s Icon folder.

The title bar also got some love to get it looking better on Big Sur (apparently they got bigger), and I spent a little time tweaking the javascript to make sure Netflix’s headers get popped out from under it correctly.

Some of the custom menu items (like the preferences in the Window menu) weren’t being validated correctly, which meant they weren’t displaying as intended. I figured out why (apparently one must actually declare conformance to
NSMenuItemValidation
now, rather than it just being a thing that happens), and then fixed it.

The version number got updated. Normally that’d be obvious, but last time I forgot to actually do that, making it seem like I might have shipped the wrong version, when in fact I messed up in a totally different way.
